I recently
wrote a manual on how the ancient wisdom and principles of Feng
Shui can help us move into a new home with less stress and chaos,
and with more vision and intention. During the writing process,
I asked my family and a few friends to read the document and give
me feedback. An interesting and unexpected response came back to
me--they found themselves inspired by my project to clear the clutter
from their homes! They applied my Chinese Five Element approach
to moving to their existing homes with great success, and as a result,
discovered that they could "move" into a more peaceful
and supportive environment through the act of simply clearing the
clutter. Elemental Clearing is therefore a revision of Elemental
Moving, focusing on clutter: what it is, what it does, and how
we can deal with it so that our homes become places that truly support
our lives and reflect who we are.
As
we all know, clutter has a way of overwhelming us and draining
our energy. Even if we are the most organized people in the world,
some level of clutter exists in our life. "Clutter"
can be thought of as any accumulation in our environment that
no longer "fits" our life. It could be the clothes in
our closet that we never wear, the disheveled desk that is a source
of continual frustration, the collection of tea cups that no longer
speak to our current interests, or one too many "junk drawers."
This sort of clutter bogs us down, keeps us stuck, and inhibits
new growth in our lives. We all want to deal with it, but when
we really look at all this stuff it can be very difficult to know
where to start, what to do, and how to manage it physically and
emotionally. This is where Feng Shui and the Chinese Five Elements
can help us.
In
my Elemental Clearing manual, I present a brief summary of Feng
Shui principles along with an introduction of the Chinese Five
Elements. Then I use the basic Chinese Five Element cycle to provide
a pattern and a process to follow as we clear our living spaces.
Hopefully it will offer an encouraging and thoughtful way to begin
the task and see it through. It is my deepest hope that as you
clear your space of clutter, you will find your true life. And
once you realize that, you can then begin to live the life of
your dreams!
